There is a guide available from Fox on air sleeve maintenance but this one has some extra details. It's a task which needs to be done regularly as any dirt accumulating in the fork will lead to expensive damage to the stanchion anodising.

You will need:

* Electrical Tape
* Small block of wood
* 2 litre plastic Coca Cola bottle or similar
* Small artist's paintbrush
* Small Flat Blade Screw Driver
* Paper Towels
* Suspension Fluid, any type
* Fox FLOAT Fluid, bottle or 5cc pillow pack

1. Clean the fork until it is spotless. Any dirt remaining could fall in when the seals are removed and lead to damage. Clean around the back of the stanchions with a paper towel and soapy water. Use the small paintbrush to remove any remaining dirt around the seals.

2. Cut up the plastic bottle into a section that can be wrapped around the stanchion. Make it 20mm or so less than the stanchion height, so that it can slide up as the seal is removed. Secure it with tape and slide it down so that the plastic section is against the seal. This will protect the stanchion if the screwdriver slips.

3. Hold the fork flat or upside down. Using a small flat tipped screwdriver in the slots under the seal, lever it out of the fork leg.

4. Clean any residual dirt from under the seal

5. Stick a piece of tape on each side of the fork stanction. Slide the seal over this and rotate it to scrape off any dirt on the inside. Remove tape, clean thoroughly.

6. Shake the fork while holding it upside down and the foam ring should slide out. Squeeze the foam dry with a paper towel. If it is more than slightly dirty, coat the ring with suspension fluid and repeat.

6. Saturate the foam ring with Fox Float fluid.

7. Ensure fork is clean and slide foam ring and seal back into lower leg. Ensure seal is properly seated all the way around. A block of wood with appropriate cutout and the back of the paintbrush can be used here.
